All the feels…Get A Clue!

First off I want to thank my awesome group members! These gals are awesome and I am so proud of what we put together without even meeting, well Erin and I met, but other than that we never met as a group. I am SO proud of y’all. I think we did an awesome job! Listening to our show live was really cool! I was overwhelmed by all of the nice comments on twitter by our fellow ds106ers and professors. I was definitely humbled by the professors commentary when Erin went on Skype after our show aired. When I listened to our show for the first time I was like WOW this is awesome, but hearing it live was even better! Such a cool experience!

If we had the chance to do anything differently, I would say that meeting in person as a group would have been really cool because I think we are all forming character friendships and we have a lot in common so it would have been cool to see where that would have gone, but we do still talk in our group message, so that’s super cool! These gals are the best!

I thoroughly enjoyed this project and the outcome makes it even better! I learned so much about audacity during this project which has helped me with other projects. Recording myself was weird because I do not like the sound of my voice when it is recorded, but I like that this project made me step outside of my comfort zone once again. I think that the hardest thing about this project was the fact that it was all done online and that was something I had to get used to. I am getting better about technology thanks to this class! haha

I think I would tell future ds106ers to start when it is assigned. That is what our group did and I don’t think that we would have had the same outcome if we didn’t get the ball rollin’ on time.

Lastly I want to say…

The Buzz on Vixen’s Ventures

After my show aired on ds106 radio on Tuesday night, I was lucky enough to be able to listen to Vixen’s Ventures. I wish that I didn’t have to work so much so I would have been able to tune into ds106 radio a lot more, but unfortunately I had a busy work schedule this week. Luckily I was able to tune in on Tuesday night after my night class! It still amazes me how much talent and creativity my fellow ds106ers have! Keep up the great work y’all!

I was lucky enough to tune into Vixen’s Ventures and I am so glad I did!

I thought that the group did an amazing job! The show was a little bit difficult for me to follow, but by the end I got it! It really was an awesome show with great music and incredible sound effects. Everything (the editing) was so smooth! I also really liked their commercials. Very creative! I am so impressed with the creativity of my fellow ds106ers. Keep doing’ you y’all, keep doing’ you!

The Buzz on NOIR not the father

Fortunately, but unfortunately I have a job so it has been hard to tune-in to all of the radio shows. I would absolutely love to listen to all of them, but with work, I can’t. Luckily, I was able to tune-in to the radio show NOIR not the father on Thursday evening. I hope that I am able to listen to a lot more this week because hearing that one made me realize how much talent and creativity my fellow ds106ers have. I know that everyone did a phenomenal job! I commend you all for that!

I was lucky enough to tune-in to NOIR not the father and I am SO glad that I did! A lot of people tuned in to this show because twitter was popping haha.

I thought that the group did an amazing job! They went to commercial breaks at the most suspenseful times which was perfect! It kept the audience engaged and wanting to figure out what was next. I thought that they had a great story line with lots of turns and twists. It was amazing! Their commercials and bumpers were fantastic. I really can’t say anything bad about the show. I was sad (but I know it was a technical difficulty that was nobody’s fault) when 30 seconds of their show got cut off in the middle, but luckily it got fixed right away. I am so impressed with the creativity of my fellow ds106ers. Keep doing’ you y’all, keep doing’ you!

Who Called? Veronica, of course!

For one of my assignments this week, Erin Clark and I decided to do the assignment, Who Called? that was submitted by Demi Fulcher.

I collaborated with a fellow ds106er Erin Clark to complete this assignment! Erin and I met when we worked on our radio show together and our characters have a lot in common so it wasn’t hard to collaborate.

The assignment is to, “Record you self making a phone call as if you were a character off of the wire. The phone call has to be to another character from the wire. You can even make it a three way or four way call. You phone call can even be a voicemail as if someone didn’t pick up. Cutomize it as much as you like! The phone call has to be at least 2 minutes.” The assignment is worth 4 points.

Erin and I decided to make our characters friends while planning our radio show. Veronica and Shirley have a lot in common. They share a lot of the same interests. We wanted to keep their friendship going so we decided to collaborate.

Veronica left a message to Shirley first! This is her message:

In response to Veronica’s message, I recorded myself (as Shirley) on Audacity and then saved it as a WAV file. Once I saved it, I uploaded it to SoundCloud.

Here is Shirley’s message to Veronica:

I really liked this assignment because not only was I able to collaborate with a fellow ds106er which was awesome, but I also got to dig even deeper into my character’s life and I am really enjoying building off of Shirley’s life!

Why don’t you Get A Clue!?!

I am super excited for this radio show! After listening to ds106 radio a couple of times I can’t wait for our show to air and our fellow ds106ers to tell us what they think!

I was able to form an amazing radio show group thanks to twitter and communication! We have a group of six spectacular gals and our show is called Get A Clue! The girls in my group are: Megan Rosengrant, Erin Clark, Tiffany Yowell, July Laszakovits, and Savanna Palmer. I am super excited and thanks to having an amazing group we really got our work done in an efficient manner. I am really pleased :)

We continued to use the GoogleDoc that I created this week so that we could communicate and such, but Tiffany created a GoogleDoc for our script. This was our primary source of communication other than our Twitter DM Group Message (which I didn’t even know was possible). I am really pleased with how well our group communicated.

Since schedules are hard and we all have busy lives, meeting up was hard. Especially because this is an online class. Erin and I were able to meet up on Wednesday night! We met in the Convergence Center and worked on the script.

On Thursday, I played around with Audacity and recorded my portion of the script (my character is Shirley Mayfield). I didn’t have too much trouble with Audacity this time thanks to Erin’s tips and tricks. She was a HUGE help! Sometimes I feel like I am incompatible with technology, but Erin made me feel like I was able to do it! I recorded it and saved it as a WAV file. Once I saved it, I uploaded it to SoundCloud.

We all recorded our own part and Tiffany put the whole thing together! She is awesome! She put all of our audio, commercials, and bumpers in!

I hope that you all “Get A Clue!” and tune in to our radio show! It will be great :)

I am so glad that I worked with the girls that I did! They are awesome and I am super impressed with the creativity and hard work of everyone :)

Guess the Song!?!

For one of my assignments this week, I decided to do the assignment, Favorite Song that was submitted by Alicia Almberg.

The assignment is to,” Take your favorite song. Remove the lyrics. Play only up to thirty seconds of the song. Listener must be able to guess. ” The assignment is worth 1.5 points.

I recorded my favorite song (without the lyrics) and uploaded it to soundcloud.

I liked this assignment because I thought it would be cool to see people’s guesses. (It’s really not tricky)

Here is my favorite song! Take a guess and comment what you think it is! Enjoy :)

Treat Yo Self- DO IT!

For one of my assignments this week, I decided to do the assignment, Based On 1-Quote-A-Day Project that was submitted by Rimi Morita.

The assignment is to, “Read your quote for a day out loud, and record it! Do not forget to give an appropriate feeling to it. Tone of voice could be a helpful hint for answerers to guess where your quote came from. Mimicking the original tone could be nice enough, but you also can add your own feelings to it as well. :)” The assignment is worth 1.5 points.

I decided to do this assignment because I have an obsession with quotes. I have them throughout my room, in my planner, on my pinterest boards, etc. If you haven’t noticed, at the end of each of my weekly summaries I include a quote. This week I included the quote “Treat Yo Self” because I feel that we all need to do that more often.

If you’re having a bad week, treat yo self! Really just do it sometimes! You are worth it :)

I recorded myself reading the quote on soundcloud and uploaded it.

I loved this assignment! It was supa easy, but I really liked it!

Treat Yo Self! DO IT!

Let’s Get This Show on the Radio!

We are going to have a segment in our radio show Get A Clue! called War of the Roses. I don’t want to give anything away just yet, but it will be awesome! I created a poster for this segment.

I put the image that I found on PowerPoint and I added word art. I played around with the fonts until I found something that I liked. I really wanted something simple, but something that popped at the same time.

WaroftheRosesI am really happy with the outcome because I think that it is clean and it pops. I really like the poster and I hope that it will help promote the segment in our radio show.

It’s All About the Radio Show

I am super excited for this radio show! After listening to ds106 radio a couple of times I can’t wait for our show to air and our fellow ds106ers to tell us what they think!

I was able to form an amazing radio show group thanks to twitter and communication! We have a group of six spectacular gals and our show is called Get A Clue! The girls in my group are: Megan Rosengrant, Erin Clark, Tiffany Yowell, July Laszakovits, and Savanna Palmer. I am super excited and thanks to having an amazing group we really got this going this week. I am really pleased :)

Once we had our group finalized, I created a GoogleDoc and shared it with everyone. We have been using the GoogleDoc to communicate our ideas and such throughout the week. We each have our own color so it is easy to distinguish what each member is saying. We have also used twitter throughout the week to communicate. To be honest, twitter overwhelms me sometimes so I have had a hard time communicating that way. I have however loved communicating via Direct Messages on Twitter. This has been super helpful! Especially for quick individual questions!

So far we have 9 pages on our GoogleDoc. This consists of everything from ideas to characters to bumpers. If it pertains to our radio show, it’s on there. Get a Clue! is going to be awesome! I am excited :)

Our radio show is going to be a Clue murder mystery show. We also have some great commercial ads! I am really impressed with the creative minds of those in my group! They have thought of some pretty cool things! I was up for anything, but I am extremely happy with the outcome of my group’s progress.

We have gotten a lot of work done, but we still have work to do. We are hoping to meet in person sometime this week, but if that is not possible we will meet online at the same time. I am really excited for this radio show!

Mayfield

For one of my week five assignments, I chose to do the assignment, Word that was submitted by Rabia Aman.

The assignment is to, “Pick one word. Select one single typeface, and communicate your word. Do not use colors or any other graphical elements. The goal is to select a type face that represents the meaning of the word, and if needed manipulate the font using different sizes, bold, italics, counterform (spacing) etc to visualize the word.” The assignment is worth 2 points.

I picked this assignment because I thought it would be really cool to manipulate a word in a cool way. I wanted to do this assignment and dedicate it to the 6 stars we had to do for our character dossier this week.

When I was thinking of words to do, I was thinking of a lot, but I narrowed it down to one word: Mayfield. I picked Mayfield because not only is Shirley’s last name Mayfield, but it is also the name of their family’s department store. I think that it has a lot of meaning for my character.

I used Microsoft Word to create my word. I used WordArt. I created each letter individually and then rotated them the way that I wanted them.

I really enjoyed doing this assignment! Manipulating the letters was really fun!
