Week Eleven Summary

Life has been throwing me some MAJOR curveballs lately and I have been trying to balance life and school and I do have to say, it’s difficult. I have to say thank you to my agency partners, Erin, Megan, and Tiffany. They are absolutely fabulous and SUPER understanding!

We have been chatting on Facebook ever since we set up our agency. This works of us! We learned that during our radio show. Erin set up a GoogleDoc which I am obsessed with because we can all put our ideas in one place and leave feedback to each other. Megan set up our agency’s website. The three of them have done an amazing job with setting this up since I have had a lot going on. I contributed to the website as well. :) Check it out! Hit us up! The web address is: the1agency.wordpress.com and the title of the website is Hit Me.

I am SUPER excited to be working with these fabulous ladies again!

For one of my assignments this week I decided to do the assignment, Character Resume, that was submitted by Nicky Memita.

The assignment is to, “Using either Microsoft Word, creating your own webpage, or using a website like LinkedIn, create a “fake” resume for a fictional person or character of your choice. Add detailed descriptions and make the resume relevant to the character. Resume must include a profile, work history, education, and skills. Locations, job positions, and companies can be made up! Use your creativity!” This assignment is worth 3 points.

I don’t need a resume to impress someone, but it definitely helps ;)

I created my resume on a Word Document then saved it as a PDF and took a screenshot and saved that as a JPEG. Once I saved everything, I uploaded the resume to flickr.

I also uploaded my resume to my agency’s website! Check us out! Hit us up!

For one of my assignments this week, I decided to do the assignment, You’re a Pinteresting Character, that was submitted by Brooke P.

The assignment is to, “Build a Pinterest page of at least 20 pins for a character of your choice. Search for pins that relate to your character and things that he or she would want to pin for themselves. Bonus points if you build a page and have visitors to your blog guess which character you picked!” This assignment is worth 2 points.

I was super excited to do this assignment because I am obsessed with Pinterest. It’s bad! I have SO many pins! I knew I would have fun with this one, so I started by logging onto Pinterest.

I had a TON of fun finding things that I loved! This wasn’t too hard because I am obsessed with a lot!

I created a board on my Pinterest called: Shirley is surely pinteresting ;)

For one of my assignments this week, I chose to do the assignment Create Your Dream Vacation on Pinterest, that was submitted by Haley Eckhardt.

The assignment is to,” Create A Pinterest Board Of Your Dream Vacation This is an assignment for dreamers! If you don’t already have a Pinterest account, create one! Next, take a moment and contemplate where you would want to go. A vacation does not necessarily mean you have to select one place to travel to. It can involve a variety of locations. Start off by creating a “board” for your dream vacation. All you have to do to create your board is click the “create a board” option on your main profile page. You could title it “My Dream Vacation,” like I did, or come up with something more personalized. You can select a category, such as “travel,” if you want, but neither a category, nor a description, are necessary to continue. Next, try plugging keywords into the search box on Pinterest for cities, countries, specific landmarks, attractions, etc. and “pin” your favorite images/travel blog links/recipes/etc. onto your new board! To pin, hover your mouse over the image and a red “Pin it” button will pop up in the top left corner. Go ahead and click on it. **The purpose of these pins is to give Pinterest subscribers access to a variety of recipes, photography, travel guides, blogs, literally EVERYTHING digital. Next, Pinterest will ask you which board you would like to pin it to. Make sure you select the board you created for this assignment. You can either keep the description the pin came with, or create your own! Completely up to you. And lastly, just click the red button again, and you will have successfully added your first pin! Congratulations! Keep searching and adding pins until you have developed a solid amount of things to do/see/eat on your dream vacation! Next, embed a link of your “Dream Vacation” Pinterest board in to a blog post and write out a brief summary of the trip you desire. It’s up to you what you want to write about, but some ideas would be:

– Talk about if you feel like this trip will be possible for you someday, why or why not?

– What is required for your dream vacation to come true? (Don’t just say money, do your research.)

– Do the place(s) you plan to go have a different native language? If it’s an exotic trip, are there legal requirements, such as shots, visas, etc.?

Really get to know your dream vacation– maybe it’ll happen someday!” This assignment is worth 3 points.

I have an obsession with Pinterest, I love Pinterest. I have over 10,000 pins. When I saw that there was an assignment having to do with Pinterest, I quickly got started. I also LOVE vacations, especially planning them. I am so glad that Haley E. submitted this assignment. It has been a dream of mine to go to Bora Bora, Tahiti. I absolutely LOVE tropical vacations. Bora Bora is exceptionally gorgeous. The water is perfect and everything is beautiful.

For one of my week five assignments, I chose to do the assignment, Create Your Own Business Card that was submitted by Lauren Brumfield.

The assignment is to,” create your own business card to advertise who you are.” The assignment is worth 2 points.

I picked this assignment because I thought it would be fun to make my own business card for my position in my agency, Hit Me.

I used VistaPrint to create the business card. I wanted something sleek but stylish at the same time. I also wanted to keep things simple because if there is too much going on it’s more difficult to read. I think that I ended up designing a very “clean” business card. It has all of the necessary aspects, but it’s not “too much” in my opinion.

Shirley will definitely be bringing in the business with these sleek business cards ;)

I really love your play on words with “surely” and “Shirley” It’s a great marketing strategy that is also humorous and punny … the dream combo for any business!
